Tradesman – Poem by Jan Price

TRADESMAN

Nothing works in our old place

it`s all a mess, this is the case

we have no lights with which to see

and I must say it vexes me.

My hoover doesn`t pick up dust

the washing machines beginning to rust

the sockets hang from off the wall

the iron does not work at all.

I said to my husband`please take stock`

`do you want us to have an electric shock?

The electric fire it burns no more

it`s no good buying at Curry`s store

for in our house things soon break down

and husband stands there with a frown

I`ve asked him time and again to risk it

at least the oven could he fix it

as long as I`m with this bright spark

I will always fumble in the dark

he says it`s all in bad condition

he should know…he`s an electrician.
