On behalf of the members of the British Residents’ Association I extend condolences to the Royal Family at this time of their great loss.
The news that all of Malta had been dreading all day yesterday came in late afternoon that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the mother, grandmother and great grandmother of the Nation and the Commonwealth had passed away at Balmoral. It was as though a much revered member of our own family had gone.
The Queen will be missed throughout the world but for the people of Malta it will be felt all the more so, as she had a special place in their hearts having once lived here with Prince Phillip shortly after their marriage. And returning on several important occasions to renew her connection to the Island and it’s people.
We will all have our special memories of the Queen and she will be thought of much in the coming days and weeks. May she rest in peace.
A book of condolence is available in St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, Valletta.
Long live the King.
