Malta – A Poem by Jan Price

MALTA

I’ve come to live in Malta

I’ve been here just a year

It`s had its ups it`s had its downs

I`ve even shed a tear.

The traffic it does worry me

the way they drive their cars

but there`s lots of things that are very good

there are lots of pubs and bars!

But now they say the rent goes up

It gave me pause to falter

When I looked pained and then complained

they said `Well this is Malta!

I put my car in a garage

he said come back at two

when I went back he wasn’t there

and I didn`t know what to do.

I`ve been going back a week or more

I asked the man called Walter

I said where is my car he said

`My dear this is Malta.`

You have to chill and not up tight

take off your British halter

and if a new comer complains to me .. say

My dears this is Malta…
