The 44th Annual General Meeting of the British Residents Association was held today at The Preluna Hotel, Sliema. Mr Peter Robinson, the Chairman, welcomed 127 members. The British High Commissioner, His Excellency, Rob Luke was in attendance and said a few words regarding the reduction in charges for renewing your British passport. He also mentioned how you can register to vote in the European Elections. He went on to thank the Association and its members for all their support to the British High Commission.
One of Peter Robinson’s final duties as Chairman was to award the position of Honorary Life Member to Mavis Barrett. Honorary Life Membership is award to those who have rendered exceptional and meritorious service.
During this AGM members cast their votes to elect a new Chairman. The candidates were Harvey Stephenson, Vice-Chairman and Jay Jones, Chairman of Gozo.
The voting went as follows:
86 for Jay Jones
40 for Harvey
1 spoilt voting slip
Peter Robinson thanked both candidates for putting themselves forward for the post and welcomed Jay Jones into the Chair. Peter and Mary Robinson were presented with a plaque and bouquet of flowers.
